Minnesota rules to know
- Switching Medigap plans
- First-time buyers. People 65 to 70 buying Medigap for the first time can get a policy without health questions during the fall and January–March windows, with a premium surcharge.
- Medigap under 65
- Required. Minnesota insurers cannot turn down people under 65 on Medicare because of a disability or kidney failure (ESRD), or charge them more for their health, if they apply within 6 months of starting Part B; Minnesota uses its own plans, and every insurer must offer a Basic plan and an Extended Basic plan.
