How we verify

A badge means a person checked, and when.

The License & NPN Verified badge means someone on our team checked this agent's insurance license with the state, on the date shown on the badge. Here is exactly what that covers.

What we check

  1. The NPN matches the name

The agent's National Producer Number belongs to the person named on the listing.

  2. An active health license

An active license with a health line of authority (needed to sell Medicare Advantage and Part D plans) in each state shown on the badge.

  3. Two sources, not one

We review the agent's official NIPR producer report and look the license up on the state insurance department's own website.

  4. AHIP training, when provided

If the agent sends their current-year AHIP Medicare training certificate, we review it. The profile says so when we have.

How often we recheck

30 days

Home-state license

Rechecked every month.

90 days

Other states

And whenever a license reaches its expiration date.

Automatic

If a check lapses

The badge comes off everywhere until we check again.

What the badge does not mean

  • It is not a recommendation of the agent, any insurance company, or any plan.
  • It is not an approval by Medicare, CMS, or any government agency. MedicareLocalBroker is a private company.
  • It is not a promise that the agent offers every plan in your area. Each agent's own disclaimer says how many companies they work with.

Who pays, and how ranking works

Verified agents pay a flat subscription. That pays for the checks. Agents never pay per call, per lead, or per enrollment, and nobody can buy a higher spot in a ZIP code.

In search results, verified agents are shown first, and the page says so. Free listings are always shown too: agents who manage their own listing come next, then basic listings built from state license records, which say where they came from and the date. You only see agents with an office in the area you searched; agents licensed in your state but based elsewhere appear in a separate, labeled list.

Check for yourself

Every profile links to the state's official license lookup, so you can confirm the license yourself. If something looks wrong, tell us and we will recheck it.
