- Birthday rule. Once a year, on your birthday and for 30 days after, you can switch to equal or lesser benefits from any insurer.
- Medigap under 65
- Required, with limits. In Maryland, if you are under 65 and on Medicare because of a disability, insurers must sell you Plan A and Plan D, with no health questions, if you apply within 6 months after your Part B starts (or within 6 months of notice of retroactive enrollment); insurers may choose to offer other plans, and the law does not mention kidney failure (ESRD).
