Iowa rules to know

Switching Medigap plans
Iowa doesn't add a yearly Medigap switching right. Outside your 6-month Medigap Open Enrollment Period (which starts when you're 65 or older and have Part B) and certain federal protections, such as losing other coverage, insurers can usually ask health questions and turn you down. States with switching rights.
Medigap under 65
Not required. Iowa does not require insurers to sell Medigap to people under 65, and there is no Medigap open enrollment before 65; a few companies choose to sell to disabled people under 65 (the 2026 state guide lists only United American and Wellmark, and only Wellmark lists a guaranteed-issue plan, Plan A), and anyone who has Part B at 65 gets a 6-month open enrollment then.
